It might have been thought that the failure of the Google Glass would discourage some players from entering the connected glasses market. It is not so ! After notably Oakley, Safilo invests the segment. In preview, we tested these “smart” glasses in the showroom of the Italian eyewear in Paris.
Particularity of these connected glasses: they act on the level of the brain waves to improve the concentration and the breathing of the sportsman before or after the effort. But not only … The foakley sunglasses are also intended for people seeking relaxation after work, studies … The application transmits real-time audio exercises directly related to the brain activity of the wearer. To have tested it, this exercise of meditation of a duration of 2 minutes is ideal to let go quickly.
During the session we tried the concentration program. To put us in real conditions of a sports effort, we watched an intense video in adrenaline. The exercise was therefore intended to help restore calm, calm and well-being. A voice guides the user through visual experiences (focus on a point, …) and sound (wave sounds, bird sounds). All you have to do is let yourself go … until you are fully rested. The curve below details the concentration peaks. Over the 2 minutes of testing, we did it for 1 minute and 15 seconds.
Currently available in the Smith London Focus collection, the fake Oakleys look like a classic pair of glasses. The weight of the frames is 46 grams. Developed in collaboration with Canadian company InteraXon, they incorporate invisible technology similar to that used for the Muse Meditation Helmet. The electroencephalographic sensors (2 positioned on the glasses and 3 at the nose) directly measure the level of concentration of the person wearing them. Everything is miniaturized and integrated into the design of the bezel, so invisible, and connected to an application on smartphone.
“The connected glasses segment is booming. To succeed in this market, it is fundamental to combine the technological know-how with the design, and that the product brings something to its user “, explains Thorsten Brandt who presented them to the CES of Las Vegas (Consumer Electronics Show) of the January 5th to 8th. And to add: “We are launching these glasses in the Smith collection, but we will offer them in other brands of Safilo’s portfolio”.
The fake Oakley sunglasses will be marketed this Black Firday in the United States at a price of 12.8 to 18 dollars on www.oakleyoffer.us .
